Zoar site of deer-vs-SUV accident

ZOAR — A Pike County motorist escaped injury when her SUV collided with a deer late Saturday night at Zoar.

Angelica S. Merkley, 31, Winslow, was westbound on Old Road 64 in a 2016 Jeep Patriot when the 11:14 p.m. accident occurred at County Road 850W, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy said Merkley’s SUV collided with a deer that came onto the roadway from the east.

Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000 but Merkley was able to drive the Patriot from the scene.
