Young Women LEAD to host virtual event
September 15, 2020By Herald Staff
Young Women LEAD will empower area high school girls to be bold, fearless and lead with confidence through its first-ever virtually delivered events.
The teens can attend the free event either Sept. 24 or Sept. 25 from 9:30 a.m. to noon ET. To register visit YoungWomenLead.com by Sept. 22.
Young Women LEAD Live! presented by Toyota events provide life-changing and experiential leadership education.
Since its inception 10 years ago, Young Women LEAD has empowered 31,000 high school girls through 46 in-person events. The nonprofit is committed to changing the way high school girls nationwide perceive themselves and to challenge them to reach higher levels of personal growth and development.
Young Women LEAD encourages girls to pursue careers that they may not have otherwise considered. Research shows that 70% of young women suffer from a lack of self-confidence and believe they do not measure up in some way. Their insecurities are stifling their dreams. More than half of all girls say that girls don’t consider a career in STEM because of lack of confidence.
This year’s Young Women LEAD Live! events focus on “Imagine the Possibilities.” Each event features: the world’s No. 1 coach for young women, Julie Carrier; Disney filmmakers and twin activists, Maryam and Nivaal Rehman; and “High School Musical” actress and youth champion, Monique Coleman.
