From Local Sources
JASPER — A truck hauling rock overturned Tuesday morning west of Jasper, partially spilling its load and blocking a county road.
Philip Hafele of Jasper was northbound on County Road 350W in a 2012 International rock truck when the 10 a.m. accident occurred north of Schuetter Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Hafele’s truck initially ran off the east side of the roadway. He over-corrected, and drove across both travel lanes before the International overturned onto its driver’s side.
The rock that spilled blocked the roadway.
Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services was called to the scene but Hafele declined to be transported to the hospital for treatment after climbing from the truck.
The crash totaled the truck.
The Jasper Police Department and wreckers from Stork Service Center and Uebelhor & Sons also assisted.
