Workshop designed for liturgical musicians

ST. MEINRAD — A workshop for liturgical musicians, both voices and instruments, will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. CT Saturday, Feb. 15, at Historic St. Boniface Parish Center, Fulda.

Workshop participants should register ahead of time, so workshop materials will be available upon arrival; there is no charge for the workshop. Complimentary lunch is available at the parish center.

Chris Lord will present the program on correlating readings and music, training and developing cantors, effectively leading congregational singing and more.

Lord is the liturgist and director of music ministry at Maternity Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Bourbonnais, Illinois. She has a varied background as a music educator and band and choral director.

She has served as a cantor catechist for the “One Bread, One Cup” youth liturgical conference held at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, and she has presented workshops and retreats for music ministers.

A life-long organist and pianist, she is a member of the National Pastoral Musicians Association and the Illinois Music Educators Association. Prior to earning her master’s degree in liturgy from Boston College, she received a bachelor’s degree in music education from Illinois State University, where she later served as a campus minister at the Newman Center.

Participants are asked to register for the workshop so arrangements can be made to provide lunch.
