JASPER — Authorities booked a Vanderburgh County woman into the Dubois County Security Center on Monday afternoon after she missed court hearing dates in a criminal case.

Katherine E. Ackerman, 42, Evansville, was charged with Level 6 felony unlawful possession or use of a legend (prescription) drug and misdemeanor theft in October after the Jasper Police Department investigated a shoplifting report Sept. 28 at the Walmart Supercenter, 4040 N. Newton St. The case involved the theft of $86.28 worth of merchandise.

When Ackerman failed to appear for a pretrial hearing in May, according to court documents, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Authorities booked Ackerman into the security center at 2:48 p.m. Monday on the active warrant. She appeared in court Tuesday, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 80 days in the security center.
