JASPER — A Lawrence County woman suffered injury in a Friday afternoon scooter crash on the southeast side of Jasper.
Melony Fowler, 41, Bedford, was operating a 2015 Yamaha scooter northbound on Meridian Road when the 5 p.m. accident occurred near Miller Lane, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Police said Fowler ran off the roadway and struck a mailbox. Fowler lost control of the Yamaha and wrecked on the roadway.
Fowler was not wearing a helmet and suffered head cuts, according to police.
An ambulance transported Fowler to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center for treatment. A hospital spokeswoman said Fowler was later transferred to another facility.
Damage to the Yamaha was estimated at $150.
The Jasper Volunteer Fire Department and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted.
