Woman in field accused of public intoxication

From Local Sources

BIRDSEYE — A call early Sunday reporting a woman screaming for help in the vicinity of Oak Street in Birdseye resulted in an alcohol-related arrest.

Dubois County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded and made contact with Stephanie S. Neukam, 35, 30 Poplar St., Birdseye, who was alleged to have initially told officers she had no idea where she was or how she got to the field.

The sheriff’s department said Neukam’s blood alcohol content tested .16 percent. Because deputies determined she could be a danger to herself, Neukam was taken into custody on a preliminary misdemeanor count of public intoxication and lodged in the Dubois County Security Center at 2:24 a.m. Sunday.
