Woman faces drug, impaired driving counts

ST. CROIX — Authorities formally charged a woman with impaired-driving and drug-related counts last week in Perry Circuit Court.
Indiana State Police arrested Christina M. Whaley, 32, 13132 E. Main St., St. Meinrad, after investigating a report of possible drug activity in a 1995 Dodge truck parked at a St. Croix gas station May 13.
Police said a state police K-9 called to the scene alerted to the odor of illegal narcotics. Police found marijuana, a glass smoking device that field tested positive for the presence of methamphetamine, a tin with residue that tested as methamphetamine and a syringe.
Whaley later tested positive for the presence of amphetamines, cocaine, methamphetamine, opiates and cannabinoids in her system, according to police.
Authorities charged Whaley with Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamine and unlawful possession of a syringe and misdemeanor possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and operating a vehicle with a controlled substance or its metabolite in the body.
Whaley had an initial hearing last week in Perry Circuit Court, with her next court appearance scheduled for June 24.
