Woman charged with misdemeanor theft

From Local Sources

JASPER — Police booked a Spencer County woman into the Dubois County Security Center on a warrant related to a misdemeanor theft case.

Griffin M. Williams, 25, 701 First St., Gentryville, was charged in March with taking merchandise valued at $149.62 from Holiday Foods, 1815 Main St., Ferdinand, at the end of November in a case investigated by Indiana State Police.

A failure to appear warrant was issued out of Dubois Superior Court at the end of April after Williams did not appear for court hearings. Authorities booked Williams into the security center at 6:50 p.m. Wednesday on the active warrant.

During an initial hearing Thursday, the court entered a preliminary plea of not guilty on Williams’ behalf and set her next court date for Tuesday. Williams remains lodged at the security center.
