JASPER — Authorities booked a woman into jail Tuesday on local warrants.
One warrant, issued out of Dubois Circuit Court in May of last year, charges Jessica M. Messmer, 29, 408 N. Washington St., Huntingburg, with Level 6 felony counts of forgery and counterfeiting and six misdemeanor counts of check deception.
Court documents allege Messmer wrote checks without permission from another individual’s checking account in such a manner that they appeared to have been made by the other person and that she knew some of the checks would not be honored. The charges cover incidents between Nov. 21, 2017, and Feb. 21, 2018, according to court documents.
Messmer was also named in a failure-to-appear warrant issued Feb. 4 in Dubois Circuit Court after she was not at a hearing on a motion to revoke her suspended sentence in an earlier forgery case.
Authorities booked Messmer into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday on the active warrants.
