Woman arrested after accident

JASPER — A woman was arrested following a Saturday morning accident at U.S. 231 and Baden Strasse.

Deeza R. Kemper, 37, Chandler, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while intoxicated-endangerment, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance.

At 5:30 a.m., Jasper Police were dispatched to a vehicle accident at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Baden Strasse. After arriving and investigating, police determined that Kemper, driver of the 2007 Kia Optima involved in the accident, was under the influence, police reported. Kemper was transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, where she tested presumptive positive for THC, ecstasy, methamphetamine and amphetamines, police reported.

Kemper’s Kia was towed from the scene. During inventory of the vehicle, marijuana, paraphernalia and psilocybin (mushrooms) were found, police said.

Kemper was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
