From Local Sources
JASPER — Authorities booked a woman into the Dubois County Security Center over the weekend on a warrant charging her with theft and driving while suspended.
Charging information alleges that on Dec. 10, Rachel A. Nunez, 36, 2627 Brosmer St., Jasper, exerted unauthorized control over various items of merchandise at the St. Vincent DePaul Store, 1402 S. Meridian Road, Jasper, and also was driving on a suspended license.
The Jasper Police Department investigated, and on March 4, a warrant was issued out of Dubois Superior Court charging Nunez with misdemeanor counts of theft and driving while suspended (prior). Prosecutors also filed a notice of intent to seek an enhanced penalty for theft based on a prior conviction, raising that count to a Level 6 felony.
Authorities booked Nunez into the security center at 3:41 a.m. Saturday on the active warrant. During an initial appearance Monday, Nunez indicated she would attempt to hire counsel and her next court appearance was set for March 30.
Nunez posted bond Monday afternoon.
