CELESTINE — A woman was airlifted for treatment after a tractor-loading accident at her property Wednesday southwest of Celestine.
Linda Vogler, 66, was driving a small John Deere tractor onto a trailer at the family property in the 200 block of Santine Road at the time of the 10:14 a.m. accident, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
As the tractor was being loaded onto a dual-axle trailer being pulled by a truck, a deputy said, the process took weight off the front of the truck that was near an incline.
The truck began sliding down an embankment but snagged on a utility pole guy wire, which snapped the pole and brought down electric lines onto the roadway. The tractor Vogler was operating rolled approximately 20 feet down the embankment, stopping on its side in a rocky creek bed.
Vogler, who complained of back pain, was flown by StatFlight helicopter to St. Vincent Evansville, according to the sheriff’s office. No information on her current condition was available.
The Celestine Volunteer Fire Department, Dubois Rural Electric Cooperative and Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services assisted.
