JASPER — The Jasper Police Department took a woman into custody Sunday evening for allegedly shoplifting and illegally possessing drugs at Walmart Supercenter, 4040 N. Newton St.
Police received a report of a shoplifter being detained by asset protection staff at 5:48 p.m. The woman, Jamie L. Beamon, 37, 3950 Manor Drive, Jasper, was reportedly being difficult and not cooperating.
Beamon is accused of switching price tags on multiple items, with the total of the theft attempt reported as $41.68.
Police also said Beamon was in possession of marijuana, a smoking pipe and multiple pills.
Authorities booked Beamon into the Dubois County Security Center at 9 p.m. on preliminary charges that included a Level 6 felony count of unlawful possession of a legend (prescription) drug and misdemeanor counts of possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance.
