Woman accused of battery after dispute

JASPER — A woman was placed in custody by police who were called to the report of a dispute between neighbors Friday evening.

The Jasper Police Department responded when called at 6:20 p.m. and determined the incident began after leaves were allegedly swept into a neighbor’s yard.

During the ensuing confrontation, police reported, Catherine A. Volz, 61, 4141 Manor Drive, Jasper, was alleged to have hit a man with a broom, breaking the broom.

After investigating, police booked Volz into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:46 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of battery. Volz posted bond a short time later.
