Wind sends one car’s door into anotherFebruary 11, 2019
From Local Sources
DUBOIS — Strong winds in the area Thursday factored into a mishap involving cars parked in the Northeast Dubois High School lot at 4711 N. Dubois Road Northeast.
The incident reported at 10:25 a.m. involved a 2005 Chevrolet Cobalt owned by Amanda DeWeese of Dubois and a 2016 Chevrolet Cruze owned by Melissa D. Matheis of Dubois, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Steady winds in excess of 15 mph blew open the driver’s door of the DeWeese Cobalt, causing it to strike the front passenger door of the Matheis Cruze, according to the sheriff’s department.
DeWeese thought her seat belt would have been in the way, preventing the car’s door from shutting all the way.
The swinging door left a dent but total damage was estimated at less than $1,000.
