Wheel malfunction results in rollover
November 22, 2019DUBOIS — A Dubois teen avoided serious injury in a rollover accident Monday afternoon northeast of Dubois.
Dustin L. Gillespie, 17, Dubois, was eastbound on Dubois Road Northeast in a 2005 Chevrolet Equinox when the 3:05 p.m. accident occurred east of Dubois-Cuzco Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Gillespie told a deputy his vehicle’s right rear wheel locked, causing him to lose control. The SUV sent off the south side of the road in a curve and, after Gillespie over-corrected, went sideways across the centerline before overturning and stopping on its top on the north side of the roadway.
A deputy said Gillespie declined treatment for a hand scrape or cut.
Damage was estimated to have exceeded $5,000.
A Dr. Auto wrecker assisted.
