Wet conditions contribute to mishapJanuary 11, 2019
From Local Sources
FERDINAND — No injuries were reported in a single-vehicle mishap Monday afternoon east of Ferdinand in which wet roadway conditions played a role.
Anthony L. Weyer, 16, Ferdinand, was eastbound on State Road 264 in a 2001 Dodge Dakota when the 3:13 p.m. accident occurred west of County Road 350E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Weyer said he was coming down a hill with a slight curve when he lost control of the truck on the wet asphalt.
The truck crossed the centerline and traveled off the north side of the highway where it struck some large rock in a culvert.
A deputy said the Dakota stopped against a guardrail.
Damage to the truck was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500. There was no damage to the guardrail or the culvert.
A Berg’s Garage wrecker assisted.
