Weekend washed out for local teamsApril 22, 2019
From Herald Staff Reports
Another wave of cancellations washed through Dubois County on Saturday, as the rain put the kibosh on a number of games and events.
It started with the Jasper Baseball Invitational, which was pushed back from its original 11 a.m. start to 12:30 p.m. as the rain came down Friday night. But with the skies showing no signs of yielding, the event was officially canceled just before 7 a.m. Saturday via the Jasper High School Athletics Twitter account.
The Corydon Central Invite was another casualty of the weather, which left the Jasper, Forest Park and Heritage Hills boys golf teams out of action.
A number of Heritage Hills sporting events were also affected. The girls tennis team was rained out of their appearance in the Mount Vernon Invitational, the baseball game against Loogootee was canceled, and the softball game between the Patriots and Gibson Southern was eventually called after being pushed back to 5 p.m.
The only local team that saw any action was the Jasper girls tennis team, which suffered a rough outing at the Carmel Invitational, as the Wildcats were defeated by the Carmel Greyhounds (5-0) and Delta Eagles (4-1).
