Waterway permitting meeting slated

The Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District and Purdue Extension Service is offering a waterway permitting meeting from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 2. The meeting will be held in the Clover Pavilion at the Dubois County 4-H Fairgrounds.

Presenters for the meeting are Toby Adams and Alysson Oliger from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources Division of Water and Aileen Driscoll Farid from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management. Presenters from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers are invited. Topics to be discussed include stream formation and function, when is a permit needed, what is included in the permitting process, and who can be called for help.

Following the presentations, there will be time for a moderated question and answer period.
This meeting is a follow-up to the drainage meeting hosted by State Representative Shane Lindauer, R-Jasper, on Friday, Feb 15, on Vincennes University Jasper Campus. The Soil and Water Conservation District is working with staff from IDEM and IDNR Division of Water to answer landowners’ questions about drainageway permitting. This meeting is the first in a series of meetings planned to address the subject of waterway etiquette. Handouts and general information will be available at the meeting. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided by the Patoka Lake Watershed Steering Committee.
