JASPER — A Jasper man was lodged today in the Dubois County Security Center on warrants charging him with January thefts at the Walmart Supercenter, 4040 N. Newton St., and at Rural King, 1920 Lube Way.
Court documents allege that, on Jan. 1, Jason S. Bessenger, 36, 4119 W. 400N, Jasper, took an $874 iPhone XS Max Gold, damaging a $73.65 iPhone XS Max display holder at Walmart.
Then, on Jan. 22, Bessenger is alleged to have taken a $179.99 Milwaukee reciprocating saw from Rural King, damaging a $20 alarm device.
The thefts were investigated by the Jasper Police Department and arrest warrants charging Bessenger with Level 6 felony and misdemeanor counts of theft and two misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief were issued out of Dubois Superior Court.
Authorities booked Bessenger into the security center at 12:25 a.m. today on the active warrants.
