Warrant charges offender with registry violation

From Local Sources

JASPER — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department took a Jasper man into custody Thursday on a warrant charging him with failure to register as a sex or violent offender.

Court documents explain that the sheriff’s department requires offenders on the registry to report each January for their yearly obligation to register. In January 2018, Aaron M. Cloe, 37, 207 W. Fifth St., Jasper, signed, dated and initialed a form acknowledging his next registration date, according to authorities.

On Friday, with Cloe still having failed to report and after attempts by the sheriff’s department over the previous several weeks to get in touch with him, a warrant charging Cloe with a Level 6 felony count of failure to register as a sex or violent offender was issued in Dubois Circuit Court.

Authorities booked Cloe into the Dubois County Security Center Thursday on the active warrant.
