Warrant charges man with impersonation, false informing

From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — A Huntingburg man was booked into jail Monday on a local warrant charging him with misdemeanor counts of impersonation of a public servant and false informing.

Documents in Dubois Superior Court allege John C. Owens, 47, 506 Pleasant View Drive, Apt. 46, represented himself as a deputy sheriff from Georgia with the intent to deceive a man on July 27. Also on that date, according to charging information, Owens allegedly gave a false report about a crime, telling authorities, while knowing the report was false, a female juvenile had been inappropriately touched.

Additional details were not immediately available but a warrant was issued for Owens’ arrest Thursday and he was brought to jail Monday afternoon by the Huntingburg Police Department. He was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:23 p.m.
