JASPER — A Vigo County man was brought Thursday to the Dubois County Security Center on warrants that included local charges of forgery, identity deception and theft.
Indiana State Police investigated the case against Braxton J. Cannon, 31, Terre Haute, with the alleged crimes involving check thefts and forging, as well as a wallet theft, that occurred between Dec. 1 and 3, 2017, according to court documents.
A warrant charging Cannon with three Level 6 felony counts of forgery, three Level 6 felony counts of identity deception and two misdemeanor counts of theft was issued Tuesday out of Dubois Circuit Court.
Authorities brought Cannon to the Dubois County Security Center at 2:08 p.m. Thursday.
The Dubois County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a notice of intent to seek an enhanced penalty on the theft charges based on a prior conviction, which would raise those counts to Level 6 felonies, as well. Court documents indicate Cannon was previously convicted of theft in Dubois County on March 4, 2015.
