From Local Sources

HUNTINGBURG — Police took a man into custody Saturday night on a warrant alleging he stole a van driver’s wallet.

Documents in Dubois Superior Court allege Joshua D.I. Ransom, 18, 2030 Lincoln Drive, Huntingburg, was a passenger on the Huntingburg Transit Van on Sept. 5 at the time the van driver’s wallet went missing. The van driver told authorities she had exited the van when Ransom was a passenger to assist an elderly man she was picking up at a supermarket with loading his groceries.

During a subsequent interview with the Huntingburg Police Department, Ransom allegedly admitted to taking the wallet, which he returned to an officer.

A warrant for his arrest was issued Thursday and Ransom was booked into the Dubois County Security Center at 10:14 p.m. Saturday.
