Volunteers sought for annual Creek SweepOctober 7, 2019
County residents are asked by the Soil and Water Conservation District, the Solid Waste Management District and the City of Jasper Stormwater Department to volunteer for three hours at the fourth annual Dubois County Creek Sweep beginning at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. All groups and individuals are welcome; young children must be accompanied by an adult.
Participants will help clean up the roadside ditches and creeks. Picking up the trash improves water quality and protects drinking water sources.
Volunteers should meet at the Dubois County Solid Waste District office at 1103 S. 350W, Jasper, for registration and refreshments. Maps and supplies will be provided, and then the volunteers will be directed to pre-selected sites. Volunteers should wear boots or sturdy shoes, if possible. Gloves and trash bags will be provided along with reflective vests, buckets and trash grabbers. Door prizes will be awarded after the volunteers return to the SWMD office to unload.
Preregistration is requested to ensure there are enough supplies. Make reservations by contacting the Dubois County Soil and Water Conservation District at 812-482-1171, ext. 3, or firstname.lastname@example.org.
Anyone not able to attend may call or email to find out how help can be given when the timing is more convenient.
