Volleyball teams end season, gear up for sectionalsOctober 10, 2019

The smell of sectional is in the air as local volleyball teams played out the final games of the regular season and are now set to flip the switch for the postseason chase. Here's a recap of some regular season finales.
Wildcats 3, Pioneers 0: Jasper was victorious in their final romp on the court, using a three-set sweep over Boonville to end their season on a four-game win streak. Reagan Egbert had 14 kills and also finished with eight digs. Kate Green had 18 assists, six digs and five aces. The Wildcats will face the Evansville Central Bears in the first round of sectional next Thursday at Jasper.
Jeeps 3, Raiders 0: Northeast Dubois took all three sets against Southridge to end their season on a high note. Anna Alstadt had 12 kills, seven digs, and two blocks for the Raiders. Maddie Songer had 10 assists. Savanah Goeppner also had nine assists and eight digs. Northeast Dubois has a first-round bye in their sectional tournament and will face Cannelton next Saturday at Springs Valley. Southridge will open against Forest Park in Ferdinand on Monday.
Patriots 3. Chargers 0: Heritage Hills extended their current run to three in a row with a three-set sweep of Pike Central on Thursday. Rebekah Gordon had 14 kills, five digs, and three aces. Hannah Marchand had 36 assists, while Hannah Schnuck led the Pats with 14 digs and four aces. The Patriots will host the Heritage Hills Invite on Saturday before traveling to Mt. Vernon to face the Wildcats next Thursday.
