Virtual bike-a-thon helps Relay for LifeApril 14, 2020
May is National Bike Month and the American Cancer Society is encouraging cyclists to ride every day.
To promote cancer prevention by staying active, Relay for Life of Dubois County is hosting a virtual bike-a-thon for the entire month of May. Indoor cycling is fair game and participants can enter as an individual, team or family. Participants do not have to ride every day. The goal is to ride as many miles as possible in a safe manner.
As part of the inaugural May Bike Relay, Trail Heads — Southwest Indiana had big plans to partner with the American Cancer Society to pilot a bike safety program in Dubois County. This 2020 initiative included plans to host daily group rides and three bike safety events: May 1 at Jasper Middle School, May 16 at Birk and Berg Bike Trail and May 31. Due to current conditions, the bike safety events and group rides have been canceled for 2020. However, the bike-a-thon will continue as scheduled as a 100% virtual event. In addition, a bike safety will be promoted through the May Bike Relay facebook page. Cancer prevention tips and other helpful information will also be provided.
