Virginia man arrested at Jasper CVS for OWI

JASPER — A man from Arlington County, Virginia, was arrested in Jasper Wednesday for operating a vehicle while intoxicated, among other charges.

Around 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jasper Police Department officers were dispatched to the CVS on West Sixth Street in reference to a man who was possibly intoxicated. Rolando Mejia, 19, was determined to have been operating his vehicle while impaired and was transported to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center for a chemical test. The test results indicated Mejia was under the influence of a controlled substance.

During an inventory of Mejia’s vehicle, an illegal substance was found. Mejia was charged with OWI, possession of paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance and was lodged in the Dubois County Security Center.
