Viola Jean Scherry, 89, Huntingburg
February 10, 2021Viola Jean Scherry, age 89, of Huntingburg, passed away at 4:01 p.m., Monday, February 8, 2021, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

She was born March 10, 1931, in Indianapolis, to Carl and Regina (Schoch) Reifeis. Viola retired as an elementary school teacher from Huntingburg Elementary School. After retirement, she worked part time at Dairyland, Holiday Foods, Carson’s/Elder Beerman, Revco/Hooks and the Downtown Emporium. She was a member of the Huntingburg United Methodist Church, Business & Professional Women’s Club and Indiana Retired Teachers Association. Viola was an avid Bobby Knight, Indiana Hoosier Basketball and St. Louis Cardinal’s fan, she loved watching sports. She was a collector of all cats, DIYer of any and all things and enjoyed doing ceramics. She loved watching the Q.V.C. channel, so much so, that her family called it the “Quick Vi Call” channel. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Carl H. Reifeis; one sister, Rose Marie Scheib; and one granddaughter, Erin Rose Julian.
She is survived by one daughter, Becky (Matt) Julian of Huntingburg; two sons, Nathan (Elizabeth) Scherry of Evansville and Daniel (Jill) Scherry of Santa Claus; and by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services for Viola Jean Scherry will be private. Burial will take place at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. Nass & Son Funeral Home has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
