DALE — The victim in a fatal crash Thursday on Interstate 64 between the Huntingburg and Ferdinand exits has been identified.
According to Indiana State Police, Terri Jo Kanter, 60, of Evansville was killed in the crash near the 60-mile marker along a Spencer County stretch of the interstate shortly after noon Thursday.
A preliminary investigation revealed Kanter’s eastbound vehicle drove off the north side of the roadway, crossed over the median and collided with a westbound 2016 Freightliner semi driven by Paul Reckner, 32, Sweetwater, Texas.
Reckner was not injured during the crash but was transported to a local hospital by a trooper for a certified chemical test that is standard protocol in such injury accidents.
Police say neither drugs nor alcohol are suspected to have been factors in the fatality.
Kanter’s vehicle was removed from the crash scene and was taken to the Carter Fire District fire station in Dale where an autopsy was performed.
