JASPER — The rock/alternative band The Verve Pipe will be coming to the historic Astra Theatre in Jasper on Saturday, Oct. 19.
Verve Pipe — created after two rival bands from western Michigan joined forces — is known for energetic, live performances. Together, the band members have graced the air waves with innovative arrangements and soul-searching lyrics for nearly 25 years. Band members include Channing Lee, of the duo Channing and Quinn.
Doors for this performance will open at 6:30 p.m. with the opening act, Justin LaGrange, scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. Reserved seating tickets on the main floor and balcony are $29.95 with a $44.95 VIP option. The VIP ticket includes preferred parking in the Matrix parking lot, a $5 concession voucher and a 30 minute pre-show meet-and-greet with the band.
In 1996, The Verve Pipe released their album “Villains,” which featured the No. 1 single “The Freshmen.” This was one of the most successful multi-format tracks of 1997, and the lyrics “we were merely freshmen” is more than likely enough to get this song going through your mind still today. The album also featured the hit song “Photograph.” Ensuing albums were “The Verve Pipe,” featuring top 15 hit “Hero,”and “Underneath,” with singles “Happiness Is,” “Never Let You Down” and “Colorful.”
Other 2019 Next Act, Inc. shows include the screening of “Back to the Future” on Saturday, Sept. 14 and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Saturday, Oct. 26; the return of The Way Down Wanderers on Saturday, Nov. 23; and the festive showings of “The Polar Express” and “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on Saturday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 14, respectively.
Tickets and information all shows can be found at www.TheNextAct.org.
