CRYSTAL — A driver reported his vehicle was left making noises and had a vibration after he drove over a deer downed Friday on a highway east of Crystal.

Alan R. Nonte, 70, Jasper, was westbound on State Road 56 in a 2015 Toyota when the 7:11 p.m. accident occurred 500 feet west of County Road 900E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy said Nonte could not avoid a deer he encountered lying in the middle of the highway’s westbound lane.
