Variety of events canceled, postponed: 4/28April 27, 2020
The following scheduled events have been canceled or postponed because of COVID-19. The list will be updated daily.
Armed Forces Day 5K: The Southern Indiana Leatherneck Detachment of the Marine Corps League have canceled the Armed Forces Day 5-K for May.
Celebration Singers: All rehearsals are postponed until further notice.
Community Table meals, Micah Center, Dale: The Micah Center of Dale Presbyterian Church has canceled the Thursday evening Community Table meals for as long Governor Holcomb’s order to stay home is in force.
Daughters of Isabella Circle 140, Jasper: The Mother’s Day dinner planned for May 11 and the Memorial Mass for deceased members planned in late April have been canceled. The dinner will not be rescheduled. If possible, the Circle will meet Monday, June 8.
Downtown Chowdown, Courthouse Square, Jasper: The first Downtown Chowdown scheduled for May 13 has been postponed until Wednesday, June 10. Until then, residents are encouraged to order a meal from an area restaurant Wednesdays, have a patio party and post a photo from the party to the City of Jasper’s Facebook page.
Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary: No meetings in April or May. The next meeting date will be announced later.
Dubois County Democrats: All public meetings are canceled until further notice. The Democratic Headquarters, 402 E. 13th St., Jasper, will be closed until further notice. For additional information, call 812-827-0000, email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit the organization’s Facebook page.
Dubois County Museum: The Dubois County Museum will remain closed due to the coronavirus threat until all public places are safely allowed to open.
Dubois County REC: The annual meeting has been postponed indefinitely. Find updates at www.duboisrec.com.
Dubois County Retired Teachers Association: The April meeting will not be held due to restrictions in public gatherings. All members are asked to support the Community CHEW by sending money or donating food. Community CHEW also is taking hygiene items. Drop off locations in Jasper are 3214 Howard Dr; 350 W. 5th St.; 1221 W. 6th St.; and 1396 Wheatland Dr. You can also call 812- 827 -8397 for more information on times to drop off and make donation.
Dubois Strong: The annual meeting for Dubois Strong has been changed to 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, at the Huntingburg Event Center. Networking will take place from 11 to 11:30 a.m. (The meeting had been rescheduled for Sept. 10 earlier.)
Habitat for Humanity ReStore: Habitat for Humanity ReStore will be closed for shopping, donation drop-off and purchase pick-up until further notice. All volunteer opportunities in the ReStore during this time period have been halted.
Huntingburg Public Library: Closed until further notice.
Huntingburg Senior Center: Closed until further notice.
Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Association District 18: The meeting scheduled for Thursday, May 19, has been canceled.
Jasper Chamber of Commerce: All events have been canceled until further notice.
Jasper Deutscher Verein: The April meeting and newsletter have been canceled. The next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, at the Jasper Moose Lodge. Details will be announced in the May newsletter.
Jasper Rotary Club clay shoot: The clay shoot scheduled for May 15 at Cool Springs has been canceled. For additional information, contact Gary Schnell at 812-631-3147 or email@example.com.
Junior Achievement Dubois County Business Hall of Fame: The sixth annual Junior Achievement Dubois County Business Hall of Fame scheduled for Thursday, May 7, has been postponed. A new date has not been determined.
Lincoln Boyhood National Memorial: The visitor center is closed until further notice. Where it is possible to adhere to the latest health guidance of social distancing, visitors are invited to enjoy the hiking trails in the park.
Memorial Hospital classes: Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has canceled or postponed all classes, support groups, events and employer/community group health screenings until further notice. Classes and events will continue to be evaluated pending state recommendations. If you have any questions, call Memorial Hospital at 812-996-2345.
Mentors for Youth — Super Strikes: Mentors for Youth’s signature fundraiser, Super Strikes, has been held for over 30 years, and the organization intends to host the event in 2020, but the date is uncertain. “We are encouraging teams to still register,” Executive Director Ellen Corn, said. “Teams can still register and fundraise online. We have a new online fundraising platform that makes fundraising easier than it has been in the past.” Teams can register online at www.mentors4youth.com and donations to teams can also be made online at https://givebutter.com/super-strikes-2020.
Mr. Lincoln’s Neighborhood 5K Run/Walk: Scheduled for May 2, Mr. Lincoln’s Neighborhood 5K Run/Walk has been postponed until Saturday, Sept. 12. Those who registered for the May run will automatically be registered for the new date. Those who registered on or before April 8 but cannot participate in September can request a refund at https://lspfriends.com/index.php/contact-us/
Older American Center, Jasper: all scheduled activities — including bingo, catered meals and exercise classes — are canceled until May 4. The casino trip has been rescheduled for Friday, July 10.

Pfaffenweiler trip: The Jasper Partnership Commission and the Pfaffenweiler Partnership Commission have cooperatively made the decision to postpone the 35th Anniversary trip to Pfaffenweiler, scheduled for June 2020. It will be rescheduled for 2021.
Schnellville Conservation Club: The April work sessions have been canceled.
Sisters of St. Benedict: The Sisters of St. Benedict are closing their Liturgy of the Hours and Masses to the public until further notice. In addition, the Benedictine Hospitality Center will not house guests for at least 30 days; all tours inside the monastery, guided or self-guided, are suspended until May 12; the Monastery Gift Shop is closed until further notice, but online orders and shipments are still available through monasterygiftshop.org; and the entrance into the monastery is restricted to essential visitors only, after passing screening at the reception desk. Will Hoge concert: The Will Hoge concert scheduled for Saturday, May 2, at the historic Astra theatre, Jasper, has been rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15. Hoge will be joined by his band for the August concert. Tickets purchased for the May 2 show will be honored. A refund for previously purchased tickets can be obtained by contacting firstname.lastname@example.org.
VFW Post 673, Jasper: All April meetings have been canceled.
