HOLLAND — A Daviess County motorist escaped injury Saturday night when his minivan collided with a deer on a Holland highway.

Dale N. Sullivan, 56, Washington, was northbound on State Road 161 in a 2011 Chrysler Town & Country when the 9:32 p.m. accident occurred 300 feet south of Holland Road Northeast, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy said Sullivan’s Chrysler collided with a deer that ran into its lane of travel from the east.

Damage to the vehicle’s passenger side was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500. The sheriff’s office said the Chrysler was damaged to the extent its passenger-side door would not open.
