Update: Stolen SUV located in neighboring county

JASPER — An SUV reported stolen from the city’s east side Monday morning has been located in a neighboring county, the Jasper Police Department announced today.

The vehicle in question was a black 1999 GMC Jimmy. Police had said it was stolen from the area of Seventh and Anderson streets between 7 and 9 a.m. Monday.

Police say the vehicle was not occupied at the time it was found and no arrests have been made at this time. It was located in a park, according to Jasper police.

Anyone with information on the theft is asked to call Jasper police at 812-482-2255 or the department’s anonymous tip line: 812-481-COPS (2677).

In releasing information about the auto theft, Jasper police reminded the public to remove the keys and lock the doors of all vehicles when they are parked.
