Turning truck enters stopped Jeep’s lane

CELESTINE — Police say a turning truck entered a stopped Jeep’s lane during a turning movement Wednesday night at an intersection west of Celestine.

Morgan E. Hassfurther, 25, Jasper, was stopped in a 2010 Jeep Wrangler facing south at Steinbottom Road’s intersection with State Road 164 at the time of the 8:17 p.m. mishap, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy reported an eastbound 2012 Chevrolet truck driven by Rebecca S. Goller, 42, Shoals, attempted a left turn to north onto Steinbottom Road and entered into the Jeep’s lane, striking its driver’s side front fender and bumper area.

The deputy noted the Hassfurther Jeep was past the stop sign as the driver attempted to see traffic but no citations were issued.

Total damage was estimated to have exceeded $2,500.
