From Local Sources
JASPER — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office responded to a sideswipe accident involving two trucks early Friday afternoon south of Jasper.
Gerard N. Dotterweich, 42, Huntingburg, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2000 Ford when the 12:45 p.m. accident occurred near WITZ Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
A deputy said Dotterweich’s pickup went left of center and sideswiped a northbound 2001 Mack owned by Superior Ag Resources Coop, Huntingburg, and driven by Adam J. Betz, 20, Jasper.
Betz said he veered to the right to try to avoid the southbound pickup truck, according to the sheriff’s office. If he had not, Betz allegedly told investigators, the vehicles would have hit head-on.
Total damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
The Dotterweich Ford was towed by a Sternberg Automotive Group wrecker, according to the sheriff’s office.
