Truck drives from scene of Jasper deer collision

JASPER — A motorist was able to drive his Toyota pickup truck away from the scene of a Friday night collision with a deer just south of Jasper.

Richard L. Reckelhoff, 63, Huntingburg, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2010 Toyota Tacoma when the 7:37 p.m. accident occurred south of State Road 162, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

A deputy said the front driver’s side of Reckelhoff’s Tacoma was damaged when it struck a deer that entered onto the highway.

Damage was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
