Truck drives from scene of deer collision

ST. ANTHONY — A Birdseye motorist was able to drive away from the scene of a pickup truck-versus-deer collision late Friday afternoon just west of St. Anthony.

Richard E. Dooley, 65, was westbound on State Road 64 in a 2015 GMC Sierra when the 5:30 p.m. accident occurred west of Club Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy said Dooley’s truck sustained between $2,500 and $5,000 in damage when it collided with a deer that came onto the highway from the north.

Police were unable to locate the deer after the collision.
