ST. HENRY — A Ferdinand motorist escaped injury when his pickup truck collided with a tree across a roadway Sunday north of St. Henry.
Gregory L. Lindauer, 55, Ferdinand, was westbound on County Road 1000S in a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado when the 8:10 a.m. accident occurred near County Road 100W, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said Lindauer encountered a large tree blocking both lanes of the roadway as he crested a hill. He was unable to avoid a collision that damaged the front end of his truck, according to the sheriff’s office.
No wrecker was needed but damage was estimated to have exceeded $1,000.
A nearby property owner removed the tree and the Dubois County Highway Department was called to the scene to assist.
