Trailer hitch snaps during collision

DUBOIS — Damage exceeded $5,000 in a Monday accident involving a pickup truck and the trailer it was pulling west of the Dubois Crossroads.
Larry E. Goldman, 72, Loogootee, was westbound on State Road 56 in a 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 series truck when the 5:57 p.m. accident occurred 750 feet west of County Road 400E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said a trailer Goldman was pulling bent the back of the Dodge, causing the truck to spin and stop facing east.
The shifting and spinning movements caused the trailer hitch to snap, according to the sheriff’s office.
Total damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000.
A Sternberg Automotive Group wrecker assisted.
