Traffic stop yields impaired driving arrest

From Local Sources

JASPER — A Friday night traffic stop resulted in an impaired driving arrest.

The Jasper Police Department stopped a 2010 Dodge Avenger at 8:27 p.m. after allegedly clocking it at 31 mph in a 25 mph zone in the 900 block of 15th Street and noticing the strong odor of marijuana coming from the car.

Police say the driver, Madison J. Bayer, 21, 107 W. Second St., Birdseye, showed signs of impairment and had marijuana and a glass smoking pipe in the car. A blood draw at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper allegedly confirmed the presence of marijuana in her system.

Authorities booked Bayer into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:02 p.m. on preliminary misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated (marijuana), possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Bayer posted bond Saturday morning.
