From local sources
JASPER — The Jasper Police Department arrested Corey C. Peters, 41, of 2403 Newton St., early today and charged him with a Class C felony count of driving while classified as a habitual traffic violator for life.
Peters was arrested after an officer patrolling at U.S. 231 and Division Road at 2:10 a.m. spotted a male motorist who was not wearing a seat belt. After stopping the vehicle at 10th and Newton streets, police took Peters into custody after determining he was classified as a habitual traffic violator for life.
Authorities booked Peters into the county security center at 2:30 a.m. His wife, Samantha H. Peters, 37, also of the Newton Street address, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was taken into custody and lodged at the security center after it was learned she was wanted on three outstanding failure-to-appear warrants stemming from small claims cases in Orange County that resulted in contempt of court charges.
