Traffic stop results in drug arrest

HUNTINGBURG — A traffic stop early Saturday in Huntingburg ended with police arresting the driver on drug charges.
The Huntingburg Police Department conducted a stop at 12:55 a.m. at 19th and Main streets involving a northbound vehicle that had been traveling at 49 mph in a 40 mph zone and had gone left of center.
K-9 Maya alerted outside the vehicle after being deployed to conduct a free-air sniff. Police searched and found cocaine, THC wax packets and a THC vape in the vehicle.
Authorities booked the driver, Maxwell J. Elliott, 18, 448 W. 43rd St., Jasper, into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:46 a.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony possession of cocaine, plus misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia. Elliott posted bond Saturday afternoon.
