Traffic stop for tossed object ends with arrest

JASPER — Police accused a Jasper man of impaired driving after initiating a weekend traffic stop over a tossed object.

A 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt was stopped at 7:09 p.m. Saturday along U.S. 231 near 12th Avenue after an Indiana State Police trooper observed what was believed to have been a lit cigarette allegedly being thrown from the passenger side of the car.

The driver, Brandon D. Miller, 32, 420 E. 14th St., Apt. 420, allegedly had a BAC that tested .189 percent.

Authorities booked Miller into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:16 p.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
