Traffic stop ends with drug arrest

JASPER — A traffic stop early this morning ended with a drug arrest.

A Jasper Police Department officer at 13th and Newton streets stopped a pickup truck driven by Cody D. Cooper, 34, 513 E. Ninth St., Huntingburg, at 1:01 a.m. because the vehicle’s passenger-side headlight was out and no license plate was being displayed.

During the stop, police report finding a glass smoking pipe; an e-cigarette with a white, crystalline substance that tested positive as methamphetamine mixed in with liquid; and a green, leafy substance that tested positive as marijuana.

Authorities booked Cooper into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:52 a.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.
