Traffic stop brings OWI arrest

JASPER — Police made an impaired driving arrest at a traffic stop late Thursday night in Jasper.
The Jasper Police Department stopped a 2008 Toyota Camry in the 1700 block of Newton Street because the car was driving without its headlights or taillights illuminated at 11:29 p.m.
Police said the driver, Stacey L. Hewitt, 39, 520 W. Fifth St., Jasper, was under the influence of alcohol and had a blood alcohol content that tested .238% at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.
Authorities booked Hewitt into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:59 a.m. today on preliminary misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated and operating while intoxicated (endangerment).
Police also ticketed Hewitt for improper headlights.
