JASPER — One driver was ticketed after an SUV-versus-pickup-truck collision late Wednesday morning at U.S. 231 and State Road 162 on Jasper’s south side.
Stephen M. Scott, 70, Birdseye, was in the intersection in a 2012 Chevrolet Silverado waiting to turn southbound onto U.S. 231 at the time of the 11:51 a.m. mishap, according to the Jasper Police Department.
As Scott waited to turn with a green light, a northbound 2005 Kia Sorento driven by Guy E. Ford, 82, Huntingburg, ran a red light, it was reported. Both vehicles were totaled when the Ford Kia struck the Scott Chevrolet.
Ford told police he saw the red light but his brakes failed.
An officer cited Ford for disregarding an automatic traffic signal.
