JASPER — Police ticketed a motorist after an SUV-versus-semi collision Monday morning in Jasper.
Timothy J. Leinenbach, 67, Jasper, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 2003 Freightliner when the 9:14 a.m. mishap occurred at the Hoffman Road intersection, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Police said the passenger side of the Leinenbach Freightliner was struck by a 2002 Jeep Liberty.
The Jeep driven by Thomas C. Byrd, 79, Jasper, had been southbound on Hoffman Road and, after stopping at U.S. 231, had attempted to turn left at the intersection.
Damage to the Byrd Jeep was estimated at $10,000.
An officer cited Byrd for failing to yield the right of way at a through highway.
